Taper week is a week where you back off your normal running. During your runs, you fall back about 10 or 15 minutes than what you can actually do. This is supposed to rest your body so that on race day, you can push yourself and do your best during the race.
We were to log 25 minutes tonight. After repeatedly running for 35-40 minutes, it seems so odd to scale back and go 25 or less. Thursdays run is only 20 minutes. This seems incredibly short compared and easy.
Of course, that amazes me that I have worked consistently and been able to build myself up to 35-40 minutes of running. Before starting this training group, I wasn’t able to run 10 minutes without stopping to walk.
The race is on Saturday. I’m super excited. The Atlanta Women’s 5k will be only women, provide massages after the race, food, vendors set up to provide information about various stores. The race is at Candler Park in Little 5 Points.
